Night market and BUGS!

We went to a night market in Ayuttayah for dinner.  It's quite an experience to see all the things available to buy and eat right on the spot... including insects.

The night market is a single aisle with stalls on both sides extending for an entire block.

This guy has spring rolls and something else that starts out as pink paste with green things (in the bowl in front of him), then he deep fries them (foreground).  They sell as fast as he can make them.  No idea what they are.

I know what these are ... frogs!

Chicken... probably.

??

Not sure, but I'd bet the ranch it's delicious.

Maddie is buying some sticky rice with beans wrapped in a banana leaf.

Julia found some meat on a stick.  She thinks it might be chicken.

We have crabs.

Julia and Cam are surveying some clams.

Finally.... french fries :-)

Sitting on the curb to eat the various things we bought for dinner.  But there is one more delight to go...

INSECTS!

Claire is delighting in providing these tasty treats for her friends.  Above are grasshoppers; in her hand here are silkworm pupae.  Crispy outside, creamy inside!

Peer pressure is one of the strongest forces in nature.

Ready... set....

Oh no!

Elena likes it :-)

Kelsey...

...not so much.
